About this conversion
MSG is Microsoft's own container; EML is the message as it travelled, headers and all. Converting is what you do when you leave Outlook, or when someone sends you a .msg and your mail program refuses it.
Just want to look inside it?
The same tool without converting anything: open a .msg file and read it.
You are not locked into EML
The file is parsed once and stays open, so the format is picked at the end rather than the beginning: the same .msg can leave here as CSV, XLSX, ZIP, MBOX, PDF, HTML, TXT or JSON. Before that you can search it by subject or address, filter by year, sender and attachment type, mark the duplicates and look through the archive overview.
Questions
- Are the original headers preserved?
- Sender, recipients, subject, date and message id are written into the .eml, and attachments are embedded in it the usual way.
- Can I convert several files at once?
- Yes. Select any number of .msg files, or a zip with them inside, and they are handled as one set.
